What is the genesis of Veda? Who wrote it? When did they write?
1. Pratyatshenanimityaa vaa yastupaayo na budhyate
Enam vidanti vedena tasmaad Vedasya Vedataa
(The meaning is given in the first para above)
2. Asya mahato bhootasya nisvaasitam
Yad rugvedo, Yajurveda ssama Vedaha
[At the time of creation, when there was only water, the exhalation of the Supreme Lord, the creator of the Universe is the expansion of the knowledge. This is the Veda in three forms viz Rug Veda, Yajur Veda and saama Veda]
3. The modern histories are trying to the greatest extent to determine the age of each Veda and to attribute authorship thereof. However their efforts have not yet yielded any tangible results. Their mutually contradictory opinions have not met with any consensus.
There is no need of anyone sitting down to write the Veda. By the grace of God, the ancient sages have visualised the Veda by their Antar drusthi (inner vision) or divya drushti (divine vision) as a result of their extensive tapas (penance). The spiritual parampare (lineage or succession of scholars) is continuing since the past countless thousands of years in the form of Guru – sishya i.e. Master – disciple system of oral, preaching of Veda. In the entire world, there is no system of knowledge bequeathed to the future generations merely by the utterance of the words for such a long time! Veda is the perennial, immeasurable treasure of knowledge the entire human race has inherited.
